Field Worker (CDW / VHA)

You are the start of everything. As a Community Development Worker (CDW) or Village Health Assistant (VHA), you meet families in the village, register them on your tablet, and send their details in for review. Nobody gets enrolled or paid until you have registered them first.

This page is a picture of your job. If you only read one page, read this one.

You can work with no internet

The tablet saves everything on the device while you are in the village. When you get back to a place with phone signal or wifi, the tablet syncs — it sends all the registrations you saved up to the office in one go. You do not lose anything by working offline.

The journey of one registration

Think of each family you register as taking a short trip. You start the trip; the office finishes it.

Stage What it means for you
In Progress You are still filling in the form. It has not left your tablet yet.
Submitted You sent it in. It is now in the office queue, waiting for review.
Request Edit The office needs something changed. It comes back to you with a note. Fix it and send it again.
Approved The office accepted it. The family moves on to enrolment and payment. Your part is done.

Who does what

You are one link in a chain. Knowing where your work goes helps you know what matters.

What to get right

The office can only work with what you send. A few things save everyone time:

Photos of documents must be clear

When you photograph an ID card or a clinic book, make sure the whole card is in the picture and the text can be read. A blurry or half photo is the most common reason a registration gets sent back.

Double-check names and numbers before you send

Names, the national ID number, and the phone number are hard for the office to fix without calling the family. Read them back to the person before you save.

Tasks (coming soon)

Step-by-step guides for the tablet are being written with the field teams.

Task Guide
Register a new household on the tablet Coming soon
Take and attach document photos Coming soon
Sync your tablet and check it went through Coming soon
Fix a registration the office sent back Coming soon

Where your work goes next

Once you send a registration in, it becomes the Registration Officer's job. You can see the office side of the same journey in Approve a registration.
